Compare 3D TV

We have all the latest TVs from the top leading brands across all sizes and specs. When buying 3D TVs there are a few things you need to consider as there are variants in the technology. Main differentiators with the 3D technology are:

  • 3D: Passive technology
  • 3D: Active technology
  • 3D: glasses free

The 3D technology space is still very young and the varying approaches in the 3D technology being deployed by manufacturers at the moment are experimental, thus meaning that any TV’s being sold today can quickly become out dated tomorrow. Given the fact that no 3D approach has been made standard yet, we would recommend the following:

  • 3D: Passive. We recommend this as the glasses are very cheap and identical to the ones currently being used in theatres across the world. Purchasing multiple pairs for friends and family becomes very affordable.
  • 3D: Active. Although it offers the sharpest way of viewing 3D it has a few major disadvantages. The glasses themselves are very big , hence they can become a bit inconvenient to use and store. Also, they are very expensive; each pair costing up to £30, meaning there won’t be many to go round the family and friends! But the biggest draw back is the need for batteries. Constantly buying a new set of batteries for each pair is something that can ruin your viewing pleasure.
  • 3D: glasses free. This is the end goal for 3D TVs. Having graphics and characters jumping out of the screen and onto our faces without the need for glasses hits the nail on the head! However the current manufactures offering this technology is limited, whilst the technology itself doesn’t yet deliver to the standard that their glasses dependant brothers can. Some are still worth purchasing though.
